HOW TO SELF-LOVE

HOW TO SELF-LOVE

Self-love is not a destination, it is an ongoing journey and that is neither constant or permanent. Self-love entails having a high standard for your own well-being and overall happiness. It is a commitment to your boundaries, mental and physical health, as well as the act of nurturing your environment and future.

Do you need to practice self-love? If you are experiencing any of the following below, then it is your sign to start putting your well-being first:

  1. You are feeling depressed or disinterested

If the activities that used to bring you joy are no longer fulfilling you like they used to. Apathy is when you lack the motivation to do anything or just generally don’t care about what is going on around you. This shows that you are disconnected and gradually will make you unmotivated to do anything at all.

  1. You have been criticizing and comparing more than usual

As they say, comparison really is the thief of joy. If you find yourself being hypersensitive to others, it is time you take a stand back and reflect upon yourself. Ironically, the way in which we evaluate how we are personally doing, is by comparing ourselves with the person next to us, which naturally gives us a false sense of reality because everyone has a completely different life. What works for you may not work for someone else and vice versa.

  1. You have neglected your physical and mental well-being

Are you finding setbacks in your plans to improve your mental and physical health? Are you finding difficulty in making your health a priority and forgetting the importance of your well-being? Experts have indicated that adverse physical changes to the body may have a negative effect on your long-term mental and physical health issues.

The above are general signs that you need to start practicing self-love and bettering your environment for you to flourish. The better you are towards yourself, the better you can be for the people you love and those who surround you.

How? If you experienced the above signs, do not get weary as it is something you can overcome. All happiness and opportunity is not lost and you can use any moment to find your feet again. Below are some helpful ways in which you can begin your self-love journey.

  1. Be your own best-friend

This is strong skill to master. Why are we so kind, supportive and loving of our friends, yet we are so hard when it comes to ourselves? Change your mindset and decide to speak to yourself in a way that you would to a friend that you care about. Support your ideas, believe in yourself, honour your needs, and imagine how you would support a friend in the same situation as you.

  1. Make your mental and physical well-being a priority

If you have neglected your mental and physical health, the positive side is that you can start rectifying that from this moment on. You can start small by taking a stroll outside to get some fresh air, listening to music that uplifts you or taking a detox from the things that you find are stunting your growth, like social media and bad relationships. If you are lacking the motivation, choose a delicious pre-workout to give you the mental and physical boost you need to meet your goals. This is an exciting opportunity to pamper yourself! Take products rich in vitamins & minerals, and Collagen to experience an overall glow from within that radiates outwards.

  1. Set boundaries and be assertive

Sometimes, our perception of our own value decreases as we allow things to happen that go against what our personal boundaries are or what we would usually accept. Being assertive can be the first step in standing up for yourself and bettering factors for you. Think about what you want and decide how you are going to get there. Be determined and protect yourself from any factors that derail you.

As we step into a new year, it is time to focus on prioritizing yourself and putting your needs first. You cannot fill from an empty cup and so to be beneficial to those around you, you need to focus on being beneficial towards yourself first. Be kind to yourself, you deserve it.
