Your attitude towards fitness and training

Your attitude towards fitness and training

Motivated. Goal-orientated. Focused. What is the best word to describe your attitude towards fitness and training? That’s an important question to answer as the answer might be the reason why you are performing (or not). Your attitude towards fitness and training can also determine the outcome of your overall health and fitness.

It’s time to shift your attitude towards fitness. Here’s how:

#1 Have a clear goal

Don’t just say you want to live a healthier lifestyle. Have a clear goal in mind. I want to achieve this, by this time, and this is what I’m going to do to ensure I reach my goal. Make use of the SMART method.

- Specific. Be very specific about your goal.

M – Measurable. Know how to measure success. Do you want to lose weight, gain weight or eat a certain amount of protein per day? It’s important to know how you are going to measure your goal.

A - Achievable. Your goal needs to be attainable. Otherwise, you’ll end up feeling discouraged about fitness and training if you haven’t reached your goal.

R - Realistic. Your goal must be within reach and relative to you!

T -Time. You need to have a timeline and deadline of when you want to achieve your goals.

#2 Do it for you

You determine your attitude. A fitter and stronger YOU, will also benefit YOU. Ask yourself, why do I want to train and be fit? How is this going to impact my life positively? Remind yourself of the ‘why’. Having a healthy body is the ultimate wealth. Work on your mental strength and remind yourself of all the benefits of working out.

Your outlook on fitness and training will determine your attitude. Make sure it’s a positive outlook!

#3 Enjoy fitness

Yes, enjoy it! Choose an exercise regimen that you actually enjoy, something that you’re passionate about, and something that you know you’ll be able to continue. If you don’t like going to a crowded gym, set up your home like a gym. If you don’t like to work out in a gym environment, try jogging, swimming, hiking, or kayaking. There are a lot of options when it comes to working out – don’t get stuck in something you don’t enjoy.

It's also important to know that NOTHING comes easy. Starting out is probably the hardest to do and then to keep persisting. Even if you are passionate about something, there will be days where you don’t feel like doing it – at all. On those days it’s important to have more discipline!

#4 Invest in proper gear

Look good – feel good 😉. If you have proper gym equipment and workout clothes, you’ll be more likely to do the exercises. You’ll also be more motivated to do it. Invest in yourself, in your body and in proper gym equipment. We guarantee you’ll see the return on investment.

#5 Workout environment

Having a positive influence like a workout partner, and the environment where you workout also plays a big role in your attitude towards fitness. If you have an unmotivated workout partner, you’ll soon feel unmotivated. But the opposite can be true if you have a positive and highly motivated person training with you. The environment of where you workout is also crucial. Is it in nature? Are you in a gym environement that is clean? Is the music positively impacting your workout? All these things play a role… Choose wisely about what works for you.

Conclusion

Turn on beast mode. Get out and work out! You have the power to change your attitude towards fitness and training.
